Vulcain

In 1858, the Ditisheim brothers’ Manufacture was immediately noted for the quality of its products, then it was to receive international acclaim at the World Fairs in Paris (1889), Chicago (1893) and Barcelona (1929). In 1947 Vulcain presented the first mechanical alarm wristwatch equipped with the legendary Cricket calibre. This period marked the start of a new era. The Cricket watch was notably worn by Truman, Eisenhower, Nixon and Johnson, thus earning it the nickname of «The Presidents’ Watch». It also accompanied the major mountaineering and maritime expeditions of the 1950s. Since its resurgence in 2002, the Vulcain manufacture, has met the expectations of consumers seeking technically-accomplished Haute Horlogerie pieces, with a manufacture movement beating at their heart, in particular by developing its new self-winding Cricket alarm movement.
